The DC xtals DO NOT WORK in the JR rx. I was a bit leery trying it but it was ok after I plugged the SC xtal back in. As you know the currents go up in a oscillator circuit if it is not oscillating. Also the SC xtal NO LONGER WORKS in the GWS RX, Both are "dead as a doornail" just like yours.
If the IF for single conversion is 455 Khz and the first IF is 10.7Mhz for dual conversion then it should not work and now it doesn't! This really throws me now and it all occurred because of a mistake I made by assuming the JR xtal was DC and the grey cap JR xtals are definitely SC.
Well, everything is doing what it is supposed to so now we may never know. I've lost enough sleep on this one.
