There is a good free sim called FMS, or Flying Modell Simulator. A quick google search will point you to it. It's not bad at all for a free sim. There are links there on making an interface for your transmitter as well.

Also, do seriously consider an instructor before you fly. If nothing else, at least go out to a local field and someone there will more than likely be willing to let you get some "stick time" and get a feel for flying.
