Hey guys.
I ran probaly what was one of the largest forums on the entire internet for over 5 years. The two greatest challenges we always faced were teaching people to SEARCH for answers to questions that had already been answered (usually countless times, no less) and teaching people to post in the most appropriate forums on the board for their particular question.
Does this software possess the ability to leave a redirect in the original forum while still affording administration the ability to move threads around as necessary? I'm not familiar with this particular boardware but almost every one I've ever messed with had this ability. If it does, wouldn't it be a good idea to
always leave a redirect where the original thread started so that the author could more easily find his or her thread and more importantly; learn ther might be more appropriate forums to post in in the future?
One of the pitfalls of the "My Forums" concept (which I love and use myself, BTW) in the inherent isolation it creates from what's "out there" on the rest of the board. I know I have fallen into that trap when I started into electrics because they weren't a part of my original "My Forums". Maybe that's what happened to the guy that made the post in the Gas Engines forum that I'm referencing above.
Thanks for a moment.
