A quick question for the P-38 experts. Are the panels behind the turbos on top of the fuselage a heat protective metal other than aluminum, some of the detail pictures show this to be a metal like titanium but I dont thick they used titanium in the 40s. One of the other metals we plate looks like titanium but if the panels are just discolored by the heat I can just use some steel wool and metal dye to get that appearance.
