Usually the engine weights in the ads are for the bare engine, no prop, spinner, muffler or ignition unit/battery. The 2.4's do weigh under 3 lbs for the bare engine.

Regarding mufflers, I also have a bennet and a brison that I got for my 3.2 (just a bit larger, but same styles) and the bennet is cast, much heavier. For best muffling, lightest weight go with a Bisson Custom muffler - hands down they are excellent. Available at hobby shops or direct at Bisson

Also, I have a Brison 3.2 and Fox 3.2, allthough they are very similar, the Fox has more meat in the ccase, especially around the front end. I like em both!
