Default An idea for an electric starter

I priced an electric starter today and was shocked to find that they are $45 Aus for a standard model that runs on a 12 volt battery or over $100 Aus for a model that you can use rechargable Nicads in it. Anyway I was thinking how I could make one when I thought of my cordless drill. I was going to get an old socket that is about the right size an fill it with some silicone leaving a cone shaped hole in the middle to go over the spinner, then just attach a short extension bit to it that will fit in the drill.
Does anyone see any reason why it wouldnt work?
You can get the cheapo models of cordless drills such as GMC for under $30 these days and they have their own built in battery and can also be used for other things.

Regards,

Troy.
