It is possible to launch a glider from any altitude. Here's how:

1. Press 'Q' to enter walk mode, then use the mouse wheel to change the pilot's altitude.
2. Press space bar to launch the plane.
3. Press 'Q' again and use the mouse wheel to return to the ground.
4. Press 'C' to look at your plane, which should now be flying wherever you launched it from.
