Default RE: Should we have a First Timer Forum?

Maybe I should edit my original post...

I would hate to see something that appeared as "hey newb's - go here and sort out your own answers because no one has time for you"

I do think that a positive, constructive faq section would make things a lot easier. A lot of people search for info before posting a question - problem is, if it's a pretty common question, it could take a week to go through all the threads! Or on the flipside, a lot of these guys can't spell to save their soul, so you have a hard time trying to guess how to mis-spell a keyword so that you get a result! To me, that's not helpful. So they ask the question, and wouldn't you know it, someone with a short fuse (or bad attitude) comes back with "use the search feature" or "that's already been asked 1000 times" or worse yet makes fun of them. I can honestly say that those situations personally embarrass me - as members of this community, that behavior reflects poorly on each and every one of us.

I think it would be simpler to have those common questions answered in an easy to find place, then if there is additional info needed, a person can ask a more intelligent question in the forums, and hopefully get a bit more respect and some intelligent answers in return.

It doesn't have to advertise anything in regards to new users, new to rc, or anything - just make it as obvious as the link to the classified section, and people will find it and use it on their own!
