Default G2 System Requirements

'lo folks,

Thinking of purchasing G2 (full verion, naturally) mainly because it's got me hooked at my local RC store. Unlike most I guess, I'm approaching it with a casual attitude of maybe someday I'll by a heli and actually go flying, but for the moment, a sim is good enough for me to while away hours in a reasonably constructive way.

Little worried 'bout the monsterous specs being thrown around on various web-sites, so wouldn't mind some feedback here on what I can reasonably expect from my kit.

I have a P2-400 (or is a 450 - I can't remember). It's got a Voodoo 3 PCI bolted in the back and 300+mb ram. It'll quite happily play most games at either 800x600, or 1024x768 with all the detail options turned on at silky smooth frame-rates so by no means is it sluggish. I'm heavily into computers (ex-technical support dude), so it's pretty optimally configured, but not to the point of being unstable.

Appreciate that there are some texture issues with the Voodoo 3, but I can live with that. I don't mind turning off detail options to keep the speed up, but if I'm going to be confined to 512x384 with just about all detail turned off (as my old P200MMX had to for Midtown Madness!), then I'd rather save my cash.

Realistically, what can I expect? (I don't care about multi-player). My objective here is to learn how to fly aircraft - not necessesarily have it look pretty as though I'm actually in a field somewhere. What I don't want is to have to sacrafice 'realism of the physics'.

Appreciate your time, TIA...
