Default New to all this... lots to do

I've been without RC stuff for a while, and after sitting in awe at seeing my friends RC subs (the little tiny ones at wall-mart, with the adjustable fins) my girlfriend bought me the motorworks chicago sub at wall-mart (I took it back, didn't work, the replacement did) and it's great, I also got a friend of mine to get the dallas and we played with them for about an hour in a 6x2x2' fish tank.

I got some questions: (I've read all the posts for this type of sub btw)
A: What should I use as a sealent to increase the depth range on the sub, I have superglue of many types, I wan't something that will be sure to work.

B: Also what should I use as a lube for the Axle (I know it's not an Axle, but I forgot the real word for it) so water doesn't leak through......

C: this has given me thoughts of making a sub of my own. I want to make a rather large one (like 3 or 4 foot) and I'm wondering what kind of costs that would entail...
I would like it to have a ballast tank and all that, and for ease I would like it to be a dry sub
