RE: Help, 70 to 80cc motors, which one?
I've been using a ZDZ 80 for 2 seasons now with absolutely no problems. At least 3 or 4 buddies at the field would report the same experience.
I really think any starting problems just boil down to the starting procedure.
My ZDZ 80 starts every time I go to the field. I use the following procedure;
- Ignition on
- choke full on
- throttle set to 2 clicks above idle
- flip until she pops. This is almost always 4 or 5 flips. Won't stay running cuz of the full choke.
- choke off
- flip until she runs. This is almost always 4 or 5 more flips.
- Go fly
Mine ZDZ is mounted inverted.
I find that if I don't turn the choke off, after she pops the first time, and continue to flip... I'm screwed.
It's flooded at that point, and the only way to start it after that is to remove the plug and dry it out.
I can't really speak to the 3W's. I don't have any personal experience. But all I've ever heard is good things about them.
There's been rumors of a DA 75 for awhile now. Don't know if/when it will actually happen. You should bug DA and see what they say.
