Wydah, you are correct. The aluminum joiner simply 'floats' in a cardboard tube through a bunch of ribs.
The nylon bolts go through the ribs in the wing center section and you put nuts on the inside.
There's a removable hatch on top of the fuselage for access to the nuts and radio equipment.
It's a pretty simple design and looks very sturdy.
