Default RE: Saito .30 vs. OS. 30 4-stroke

Hello; I have a few Surpass 26's and like them quite a bit, I had one in a Speedy Bee, and have one in a slo poke, I have a Saito 30 in a Pixie bipe, The Saito has a little more poke, and throttles a little better (prompter). I have seen a Surpass 26 used for 8 years without any attention, then the owner crashed teh plane inverted and broke the head off. I stripped that engine and couldn't believe the amount of bore wear I saw, and yet it ran just fine. I have quite a few Saitos in all sizes and have never seen so much wear in an engine as that one had. I have a Saito 45 that I ran for 8 years, that shows no internal wear whatever. I have no experience with the OS 30, but I think the design is a little more prone to wear then teh Saito design, with the helical gear on the cam putting side-thrust on teh cam and a brass bushing as a cam bearing. Some power must be used up with that cam drive arrangement.
