RE: U Can Do 3D
I had fuselage damage out of the box. Looked like someone had stepped on the fuse right in the center of the wing saddle. The former over the center of the wing was totally broken out and floating down in the back of the fuse, and the aft wing former was split in the center. There was minimal cosmetic damage to the covering and I reinforced the sheet balsa which had some cracks. I just repositioned the former and epoxied it back in, braced the split former and added some 1/4 in. balsa stock reinforcement from side to side where the crush occurred. I suppose I could have ordered a replacement fuse, but I was so anxious to get it in the air I just decided it would be quicker to repair it than to wait for another fuse. A guy I know also had problems with broken ribs in the wings, but my wings were fine. I had a problem with a Great Planes Super Sportster wing (landing gear kept folding up on touchdown), and they sent me another wing no questions asked.
