Default RE: What's the best engine for a Mini 3D?

Go with the .25 la and certainly no more than the .25 fx. I have tried
both and found the .25 la to be the best. The .25 la has plenty of power for
pullout. Yes the pullout is a little slow, but not bad. This plane's 3D flying
characteristics are very sensitive to weight. I found the .25 fx to be
too heavy to get the c.g. where I wanted it. If you want to take advantage of
this planes full flying envelope, by all means do not get the .46 fx. The plane will
have plenty of power for hovering and fast pullout with the .46 fx, but the other
flying characteristics will suffer. Also use a light 200-250 ma battery.

Prop selection is also very important. If you go with the .25 la then use a 10X3
APC prop. I was using a 10X4 master airscrew prop, but this prop was too much
for the engine and caused the engine to quit while in a hover. Since I switched to
the APC 10X3, I haven't had another dead stick.
