RE: Does anybody know anything about these RCV engines?
Carrel is right here and there is no blame to place but we all go with the flow and RCV is not in it. They are trying right now to send free engine to darn near every AMA club in the country to get hings going. People like change but then again they don't. The RCV is a very radical design.
I know they are also here reading this so I will be blunt. The engine could be better than what we have on the market but thew cost of them are much highr than those of equal size and I for one and not going to risk it. There designs can be very beneficial to planes with certain desings. I think what is killing them is the cost vs what else is available.
I wrote them on that promotion they are having. Although they are sponsors here, they still dont get it. There are many of us here who are well known among ourselves and local areas and reliable enough to take on an engine and foot the bill for the rest of it to provide a decent review to help.
But to them , they want to send these engines to clubs with those who could really care less and who knows what will happen with them. Its a risky marketing ploy here for them. There is a core group here on RCU and I am part of it. many of us see different lights here but we are still here and as one guy put it once, "Agree to disagree" and we know what were talking about.
Look at the knowledge we put out on a daily basis and the recipients come back later on very thankful. RCV could save alot of money , time and engines by handing them out to a few here instead of "schlepping" them all over the country. Its quality , not quantity here.
