Default DP Extra First Flight

After all the doom and gloom about this plane discussed on this forum, I thought it would be useful to to say my Extra survived it's first two flights today.

My Extra is an ARF version. Engine is a ZDZ 40 with 20x10 for first 10-15 flights. 16 oz. tank gives 15-20 minute flights. Used single Hitec 5645 digitals on the ailerons and the rudder; JR 7005's on the elevators. I did use robart hinges on the ailerons. I uncovered the ailerons and installed cross bracing. I strengthened the engine box to handle the ZDZ 40.

Plane weighs 14.5 lbs.

The plane did not self destruct on the first flight even at full throttle! The engine is great. Runs clean and very powerful. A little difficult to start due to inverted installation. Easily hovers plane.

This plane flies great. It flies big like I have read on this forum. A very good choice for those that can't or don't want to invest in a 1/3rd or larger plane. It's a very gentle flyer on low rates but very wild on high rates. Lands like a dream even at 14.5 lbs.

I would not hesitate to buy another.
