Hey BOB, I use monokote hinges on some of the small surfaces of my 1/2 A's, but as you mentioned, they can begin to come apart.

For larger surfaces, I use the cya hinges cut down real small, approx 1/4"x1/2". Pin them, and they will stay.

On my most recent 1/2A Pylon plane, I have attempted skin hinges, which are created by fiberglass cloth under the 1/32"sheeting of the foam core wing. I have not used them in flight, but all those that suggested them swear by them.
