the batteries do last quite long yeah but there is no real telling when they are just about done. unless you have one of those battery things that tell you how much charge they have. and you need 8 batteries for the transmitter and 4 for the servos so 12 in total. they can be quite expensive but rechargeables you just keep using but normal AA you have to keep going out and buying a new set every time. i do recommend investing in a set of rechargeables. the fuel is really cheap and if you are just going out running around outside then a gallon tub will last for a large amount of time. any more questions feel free to ask away
