Ready to begin CG Chipmunk
I just got my second kit and am ready to get started on it. This one was given to me by a friend and has been around for while. He says that its about 10 years old, although the condition of the box and the number of roach pellots and little spider corpses seem to indicate that it is probably older than that. I spent about 2 hours last night, dusting off and inspecting every single piece of piece of wood, one by one to make sure all seemed well. I cleaned off the plastic parts with a wet washcloth, as well.
All in all, everything is is great shape. The 31" rounded leading edge pieces are pretty roughed up and a few of the pieces look bent. I think I am going to have to order a few parts to complete the kit like it would be as if new.
Here's my main question. Since this thing has been around for a while, the instruction manual may not be up to date. But I have nothing to compare it to. I just finished my first kit, a SIG LT-40 and in comparison to it's instruction manual, this one is not as user friendly. I am unsure whether CG is just like that, or perhaps this is a by product of this kit's age. My manual is 35 pages long. On the CG website, there is an option of paying 4.95 for a PDF version of the Chipmuink manual. Providing that the kit components have not changed and that the manual has been improved over my version, this is money well spent. However, I am not sure if either of these conditions have been met. Any ideas?
Thanks.
