I'm in the same boat. The sizes of stuff on these 3D models just doesn't make sense but even at 3 inches they look narrow compared to the other stuff you see around. Leave it at 3 at the tips or even cut it back to 2 1/2 but I think you're going to need to go for about 4 inches at the roots to make it look like the other stuff out there.

You may want to post a link to this thread and ask the folks in the 3D or profile forum to drop in here and offer their opinion. They'd know better.
