Default RE: 12 volt charger ?

ORIGINAL: spur

I have tysonic 12 volt 7.0 ah battery purchased from hobby people and I use it in my flight box for the starter motor and glow plug lead . It has had very little use and when it started to loose power I hooked it up to the supplied Global 12 v wall charger. Input ac 115v 60 hz and output dc 12v 500mah. Anyway its supposed to be an overnight charger but within 30 minutes the charger was so hot that it seemed it could start melting. The battery reads 12.5v on my meter. I cannot get any tech support info. on it from the dealers website. Any ideas whats going on. Thanks Larry
Your charger may have a shorted output. Just insert an ampmeter in the charge line and see what you are charging the battery at. Then measure the battery terminal voltage while on charge. It should be well over 13 volts if the battery is getting charged.
