yep. just go to your nearest garage sale and buy a VCR for like $5, or maybe you can post up some flyers around your neighborhood about where to bring their broken VCRs.

i was just recently given another VCR from a completely different company (the first one was emerson and the last one was mitsubishi) and wouldn't you know it, the motor case was identical, so was the stator. the only difference is the center section.

People are always looking for good brushless motors to soup up, but i have not found anything on capstan motors yet so i assume that i am one of the first to discover this.
