With regard to the trade show and sales tax stuff....

Ohio in particular is pretty attentive. At the Toledo show, mfg exhibitors are advised in advance about the tax issues.

Smaller garage sale and one-day swap meets may not have such issues. But then again, this is Ohio...... they do anything they can to get a few extra $$$ out of us
