MY OPINION

With most trainers that have square or flat hinge lines, the max gap is when the surface is straight. When the aileron is moved up or down, the gap decreases. For this type of surface, I would not worry about it with this type of hinge line.

If you have a tapered hinge line, I would be more concerned since the gap width does not change in flight.
