Default RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and free engine)

Just a couple of reminders

This is from RCAdmin,

RCU wants to help out and see what "officially" we can do to make the PIF (pay it forward) program bigger to help more rc'ers who are in need. If you guys have suggestions on some things we could do to facilitate this let me know.

For the ones that have a need and may be to proud to ask or afraid to ask....

A little bit of time ago I was that very same way. Thought I could do everything and anything and most of it seemed to come natural and my pride would overide my common sense. Now I'm older and what I like to believe is somewhat wiser and have come to realize that most people are good natured at heart and one thing that you will discover is that in this hobby so many people are more than willing to help without expecting anything in return. Some will come up and ask if you need it, others will help if asked. You will e surprised how many new and genuine friends you will have.

Now as in everything in life you also have the ones that will not help, think that they can do it better than everyone else. One thing they always forget is that even they had to start somewhere and they did not know everything. Well to each his own. In the hobby if you ever start to believe that you know it all and do not ask for help then you most likely are kidding yourself and it will become expensive quickly. I work in a technical profession where this kind of "holy'er than thou" thinking runs rampid and once you remind them that they did not know everything when they started, you become the @!%@$#hole. Oh well .

If you ever get a chance to visit the TOC and any IMAC, IMAA or just visit the local clubs fun fly and just watch and start talking to people. I got the chance to talk to several pilots that routinlely are invited to the TOC and fly multiple IMAC contests every year about 6 months ago. They were all extremely pleasant to talk with, remember well how they got started and made recommendations to me to become an IMAC competitor and even offered to critque my flying (which I let them do) and to this day I still follow the advice I was openly given and I hope to be competing in 2005.

What I am trying to say is DO NOT be afraid to ask if you really need it. If it is something you want but have no need them let someone else take it. It is up to the person giving the item away to make the decision as to who gets it and why and Minn and I have suggested several posts ago that PM is used and a conversation is started between the 2 parties before a decision is made.

All we ask is that when you are able, you return the favor to someone in need in the hobby, that is the one and only rule. That is why this thread was started. It was not my original idea (Razor-RCU started it by giving away a good engine) but I took it and just changed the name and gave it a different purpose.

Another good example that this thread has done is I gave a decent radio to someone who needs one to get his trainer back in the air so he can return to teaching other to fly, He is young and does not have allot of money, I just saw he has "Paid it Forward" a few posts ago so it does work. By and large, that is not the only one ( I even know of 2 or 3 planes that have been given).

I wish to thank those that have so generously given up to this point.

Now...speak up and tell us all what you NEED...come on...give it up, someone will jump it ASAP.
