Got it working. Thanks everyone for the suggestions offered.

Turns out there's a typo in the manual. Instead of middle position, you need to move the stick all the way to full and then back down again.

The build is still going well. I am in the process of constructing the canopy and, after that, just have to mount the electronics and do a final check. Wish me luck!
