I think the kits are way overpriced too, just because you have to put them together. I just got my brand new MT2 SS kit for 33.99 because of a misprint. I think that was a fair deal.
Putting it to gather is half the fun! If you buy a RTR MT2 and put all that the 18 SS has in it you will have more or at least the same as the 18SS. I say more as the engine is about $150 by its self! I have not found a RTR yet that has good servos in it. By the time you put all the parts in the RTR you will have just about done all most as much work as building an 18SS. Just depends if you want to work on it first or if you want to work on it later.
