You are off by a decimal place..there are 3875 cc's in a gallon (1000 cc's to a liter) and 29.57 cc's/oz
550 cc (gas) = 139.48 oz = 8.7175 lbs = 3.9542 kg = 395.42 grams

and 550cc is 18.6 fluid oz...he isn't toting 8lbs of fuel (weight). This metric stuff is sometimes mind boggling~
