Default dp extra 330 canopy issue

Well it goes like this..........

I was told by Dave Patrick, and had read other writings by him in regards to changing or modifying any of the "stock" hardware that comes with the kit and the fact that the warranty would be "voided" if it was.

So even though I knew better, I went ahead giving in to the supposed experience in designing such an airplane.

Upon the 4th "test" flight, still only using 1/2 throttle to trim out the airplane, the elevator push rods folded in a straight forward flight (witnessed by all at the field that day) and definitely "not" flying anywhere near fast at this point. When this happened the "telegraphing" of shock on the stab servos took out thier gear trains and abruptly shuttered through the fuse in a way that over stressed the center section of the fuse and buckled it enough to also cause a tearing of the canopy!

As it goes I quickly and instinctively chopped the throttle because at this point I had no aileron control as well!

Within a couple of seconds I was able to regain ailerons and proceeded to steer the airplane away fron the flight line and somehow at almost full up input was able to get one of the remaining damaged stab servos to "catch" and circled around on a final aproach and performed one of the best three point landings I had ever flown.

Not only was I extremely lucky to save the ship but everyone on the flight line as well.

Now thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that "small" incident, the airplane is a seemingly good flying airplane!

It is currently going through a "surgery" to strengthen and replace all and any questionable weak points, airframe and servo areas, and definitely push rods!!!!!!

Don't ever pass up your natural instincts to change "anything" on any airplane that could potentialy auger in and take your friends with it!!!!
