Default RE: Grrr! Multiple problems

The 9 Pin cable must be plugged in to use it! Just plug it in .. there is a chip in there that will activate the program.
P6 of manual covers attach to a TX and shows the 9 pin cord hookups. P7 5. Optional: Attaching and calibrating of GameCommander 'instructs you need to attach the Joystick at your 15 pin Gameport...... If the joystick port is my Gameport, the instructions omit what to do with cord mentioned below.

OK, Understand to use
9 pin female going to a male pin jack with two black insulators on shaft. The 9 pin has PRO printed on it
1) On back of computer there is a port (9pin female) with a rectangle with 2 circles inside and vertical bars on ends. No idea what it means. Is this the proper location and what is it called? Or do I need to find a connector to a different port? If so which one? joystick (15 pin or usb port...?
2) Do I need an additional adapter for the male pin jack described above (same as jacks for speakers, mic, and headphones) for it to fit the 15 pin male attached to the Gamecommander?

Cords on hand:
Gamecommander 15pin male cord;
Interface cable 9pin female to 9 phono jack (for lack of proper name);
USB connector to 9 pin male

Still confused and trying.
