I think there are QUITE A FEW folks who learned on the Telemaster or senior Telemaster--- I actually learned on an electric ARF (This was in 1983) called a "Snark"--- I soon switched to glow and had a couple "Barnstormer" kits---

The Kadet SR. came to mind and the LT-40 as mentioned as for current trainers...
