Default RE: New Impact Electric Setup

My humble suggestion would be to start by weighing the kit components. Mine were MUCH heavier than the figures posted in other threads, almost 300 g total, at 2780g. I've spent a lot of time and $ lightening things up, and then put some back in the form of extra formers, etc., and now at 2460 airframe only. With the Pletti/Schulze and 2 5S2P Duralites, total is looking to be a tick under 4.5 kg. With the new 10S2P TP 4000, it will be 4.2 kg (!), almost too light...

The Hacker setup is ~300g more, so you're up to 4.8kg, then move up to the TP 6000 5S3P twins and you've got very little room to play with. You can swing a bigger prop, though, giving more thrust to compensate. My decision was driven primarily by sound; I don't like the whine of the gearbox. The Schulze controllers are supposed to be more efficient, but I don't know how correct or relevant that is (still learning!).

Hope this helps!
