Whoops, I meant to type $500. Anyway, I have looked at all these trucks:

Associated RC10GT Plus RTR
DuraTrax Maximum ST Pro
Kyosho GP Ultima ST RTR
HPI Nitro Rush 2WD RTR
Team Losi XXX-NT Sport RTR

Right now, it looks like the Max ST Pro would be the best choice. I am going to use it for general backyard bashing, and later on, racing, when I get enough money for a race legal engine.
