I flew full scale helicopters for a number of years, so mode 2 was a natural for me. The only difference was the left thumb for pedals.

By the way, this isn't the only area of contention with flight controls. American helicopters have the main rotor blades turn one way, thus a lot of left pedal is required with power. Some European and all Russian main rotors turn the opposite way.
