Default RE: G3 simulater

thanks for the help guys, i'll start checking out the video cards
Don't be too hasty looking for a replacement video card. Check your driver specifications to find out what video spec you have. I tried looking it up on HP's site but all they say is integrated video with 64mBytes of memory. I have two HPs with on-board video cards. They are both NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M. This video spec had problems with the initial release of G3 because of a G3 bug; it was fixed with the :329 update.

You are experiencing the same b****it I got when I first looked into this. Everyone is telling you to replace your video card. I foot the bill for $299.99 for an ATI Radeon 9800 128 card and later found out I didn't need it.

If your a bit of a novice here is the procedures you need to go through to find the video driver:

1) reduce your windows so you can see you desktop graphic
2) right click mouse on a spot that doesn't have an icon
3) left click mouse on properties
4) left click adapter menu selection
5) Read what it says under adapter type
6) Read what it says under adapter information

Come back to this forum and list the information you found -- we can then check to see if your video is compatible with G3.

NOTE: I did some more research and think I found out what your video is. It appears to by a VIA KM400. It is supposed to be 3D capable with the following specs:

The VIA UniChrome KM400 Chipset is the next generation integrated graphics chipset for the AMD Athlon™ XP processor. An ultra fast HyperTransport™ link to the CPU, integrated UniChrome™ 2D/3D graphics, AGP 8X port, 8X V-Link, Serial ATA/RAID, ATA-133 and USB 2.0 combine to make the KM400 a feature rich and scalable chipset for mainstream corporate and consumer desktop systems.

The VIA UniChrome KM400 chipset features the S3 Graphics integrated UniChrome™ 2D/3D graphics core with MPEG-2 acceleration and DuoView™ technology for excellent multimedia performance and complete flexibility on the desktop.

It is definitely designed around the current desktop systems that run Windows XP and DirectX9.0, both of which fall within the G3 resource requirements. It is also a 64MByte video which is also within the G3 resource requirements. Based on G3 list of required equipment you should be compatible and therefore if your having problems there is ANOTHER graphic bug in G3. BTW, KnifeEdge software, the developer of G3, is, in my opinion, cagey with acknowledging known bugs. The will assume your a computer illiterate and b***sh*t when you ask for help.
