Do yourself a favor and get some mini-t shocks on ebay (I got a set for 3 bucks). It will give you the same articulation as stretching the truck by several inches would.
Also, when using them, you will need to adjust the link lengths slightly from what I have in the article. The length will depend on a number of factors...but the important thing is to retain the dogbone. When in doubt, shorten the lower link and/or lengthen the upper link...that will rotate the axle outdrive up.
Subtle changes will have a big impact. Just know that the dogbones do stay in place once the right amount of foam and the proper link length is discovered.
