Avery labels are just that, self-stick labels. I don't trust them to be honest (unsure of the adhesive, probably get gooey when fuel gets to it). I use the water-realease decals. Here's a snippit from another post of mine.... describing how I apply the decals...
The paper I used was purchased from
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/beldecal/moddecpap.html I've used other paper and this appears to be the cheapest I could find (please tell me if some one else sells it cheaper, this stuff is $1 or less a sheet, depending how much you buy). These were printed using a cheap ($100) HP 940C inkjet printer. After printing, I coated with 2 coats of TopFlite clear coat (fuel proof stuff of course). Best method to apply is to scuff the monokote with 000 steel wool, apply decal, then mask & coat with a light coat of Topflite clear coat.
