I agree, just let him spout his crap. We've got one at our field. We pretty much band together and "keep an eye" on him. If we see him talking to new people we'll either walk over and steer him away from the new people, or talk to the new people after he's done BS'ing them and explain what's going on. If enough of you keep an eye out you can pretty much prevent him from "spoiling" new people.
