Just politely ignore him (if you show any anger or annoyance, you've lost the effect). Then, just ask your question to someone else.

If he starts to venture an opinion without being asked, just politely say 'Thanks' and walk away. Sooner or later, one of the club regulars will shoot him down.

As someone said earlier, every club has one... don't let it spoil your flying fun or leave the club because of one guy. The rest of the guys in the club are probably great people. No reason to leave them (or the hobby) behind.

If you are polite and calm, and walk away, it will drive him nuts.
