Default RE: Set-up for first glow trainer

ORIGINAL: M. Michael Meyer

My son and I are beginning to scout out what we want in our first glow trainer. Here is what we are looking at right now:

1. Sig LT40 Plane
2. OS .40 FX Engine
3. JR 8103 Transmitter

First, any comments on this?

Second, any recommendations for a receiver and servos?

Mike

Your list is pretty good but my recommendation would be this:

SIG LT-40
OS 46AX
8103 or 6102

Jr537 servos and the R700 reciever will be just fine for the LT-40

The engine, servos and receiver will all transfer to your next several planes

The 40FX is a good engine but will be somewhat underpowered for the second plane unless you are planning to go to a larger engine when the time comes for the second plane. The same with the 6102. It will last for several planes but there is nothing wrong with going to the 8103 right off the bat.

Either radio can be purchased as a complete system with the servos, batteries and receivers included and you have chosen one of the best trainers out there
