RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Vs. Model Tech Magic
I own a Modeltech Magic and the Magic Extra. The Magic has a O.S. 46sf w header and tuned pipe turning a 12.23 x 3.75 apc prop. Pulls out of a hover very fast, landing gear sucks on this plane, its flimsy and wheels are to small. The Extra has a O.S. 46 fx and runs the same prop, and stock muffler with no baffles. It will pull out of a hover and accellerate straight up. I love both planes. The extra is much better in high speed. It only takes a little down elevator in inverted flight. Both planes will fly slow but the magic will slow down to a crawl. I keep moving the c.g. back on both planes and they keep getting more fun to fly. I flopped my magic from about 10 ft and only broke my landing gear. The extra is real weak in the fuselage where the canopy is. I broke mine in three pieces on a stupid mistake but it was fixed and still doing great. I read about a lot of guys saying the gear is weak on the extra but I have landed mine 100+ times in the last week(I have a very understanding wife). I set both planes up with 45 degrees of deflection on all control surfaces. the extra rolls so fast I put ailerons on dual rates about 50 percent, very rarely put high rates on. I fly the magic on high rates on all control surfaces. I like to fly slow with it,learning high alpa manuevers, hovering is fun, I amstarting to fly the extra a lot slower. I dont know anything about the Twist but i love both versions of the magic.
