phoglite, I've not had much problem with the motor overheating. It's warm to the touch after pretty fancy flying, but not to hot to hold your hand on it.

I wouldn't worry much about the extra weight of the GPS. I've strapped my point and shoot digital camera to mine with stock motor and NiMh batteries. With brushless you shouldn't have a problem at all.

I saw somewhere a couple days ago about somebody using the pre-formed ailerons and cutting them out. Don't know if it was on RC Universe or Groups.
