RE: U Can Do 3D
UCD60 w/ Saito 100.... I have just ordered this combo from Tower and I have several questions. I'm hoping for some solid reply's. Btw, thanks to all of you for your postings. I'm sure I will save myself alot of time/money/ headaches due to what I have learned from you!
About my setup: I am at 4700', UCD60 is stock w/ the exception of 4-40 hardware, trying my first comp. radio (Futaba 6EXA 6Ch), comes with s3004 servos at 57oz. torque w/ the 6v 1650 mah NiMH batts. Hope that enough torque for all but rudder which is an s3010 at 90oz. torque w/ the 6v, APC 16x4 and 15x6 props, and an Iron Bay fuel reg. w/ heli fuel. Here's the questions:
1) I have a great deal of concern about the bearing rust problem in the 100. Any new info there??? Is there an aftermarket bearing that works well in that engine? I bought the engine on Ebay from a trustworthy Ebayer (high feedback rating). I got it brand new in the box for $279.99 w/ full warrenty.....AND.....it included free shipping, a free Hobbico Voltwatch, and a free 2 1/4" polished aluminum sprinner. Cant beat that!!!!!
2) I have read all the threads on the UCD's inability to harrier very well. (except inverted, then it sounds to be pretty solid) From what I can tell from reading the postings (i.e. cutting the wingtips, moving cg, bigger props etc...) this sounds to be a balance problem and less of an aerodynamics issue. Although swinging a biggger prop increases airflow over control surfaces giving more control authority which may be masking the problem of a balance issue. Now, everyone seems to be concerned about the fore and aft CG, but what about the, what they call the waterline CG. That is the top to bottem balance, or, in other words, is it top heavy or bottem heavy? If you think about it, if it is top heavy and you try and upright harrier it may be unstable. But inverted the heavy part is on the bottem and it would be more stable. Anyone have any thoughts on this??????? And, is there fudging room inside the fuse to move stuff down towards the belly an inch or so???
3)I am new to comp. radios and 3d. What is knife edge coupling? And what is a knife edge wall?
4) Also, can anyone give me a down and dirty summary for setting up my new comp. radio. (everyone tells me it's easy and I will love the thing, but I'm just nervous) I know there is alot to it. And I know you dont feel like writting a novel here, and I will read the manual, but if you could just pretend like your talking to a 3 year old and give me the basics, I would appreciate it!!
HEY! Thanks guys- Sean
