RE: THE FIELD BOX FROM HELL! aka The Ultimate Field box!
After reading every bit of this thread and being tired[sm=bananahead.gif][sm=bananahead.gif][sm=bananahead.gif], I gotta ask a couple of questions. I bought the B&D box over a year ago and am just getting started with my conversion. I made a floor for the bottom of the box out of 1/4"ply, with a 2 1/2" spacer in the front. This allows the floor to be level with the "step" on the rear of the bottom and clears the front wheel, making the floor level. Granted, I have lost some space in the bottom of the box due to the floor. Due to the issue of not wanting to lose the bottom box storage tray and having glow fuel compatibility problems with containers, I have done the following:
1) Trial fitted two 50oz Dubro glow fuel tanks that have to be more or less centered.
2) From the measurements taken, I have room for a Kavan brass geared electric pump on the right side of the fuel tanks.
3) Ditto for the Hobbico 12V battery on the left side.
4) Power panel to be mounted on the left front of the lower box, fuel dots for the fill and vent to be located on the right front of the lower box.
Questions and Opinions required:
1) With the fuel tanks being mounted side to side, will fuel draw from both tanks?? (Refer to page 14 posts 403 & 404).
2) With proper venting through the bottom of the box, do I need to be concered about any explosion or fire hazard with the fuel and electrics being in the same compartment??
Comments are most appreciated.
