Default RE: Tuned Pipe Coupler Material

I have been successfully using a High Temp Exhaust Coupling sold by Octura Model Marine Supplies for connecting tuned pipes to headers on 2-strokes. It doesn't last forever, but it outlasts anything else I've tried. It appears to be a sort of red rubber silicone that has about 4 layers of fiberglass woven reinforcement imbedded in it. They sell it in 3 inch lengths, and local hobby shops who sell stuff for model boats usually will carry it or can get it. It is available in inside diameter (inches) sizes 1/2; 5/8; 3/4; 7/8; and 1 inch. Their part numbers are OC16HTEC, OC20HTEC, OC24HTEC,OC28HTEC, OC32HTEC.

I think the part numbers are the I. D. in thirty-seconds of an inch and HTEC stands for High Temperature Exhaust Coupling.

You acan find it listed on http://www.pirespreto.com/octura_catalog.htm.

I couldn't find a web page for Octura
