Default RE: Thumbs or 2 finger?

ORIGINAL: Nas19320

Is there a benefit to either style of controlling the sticks? I fly thumbs but my instructor flys with his thumb and pointer finger. If there is a benefit to the 2 finger style then I will try to start flying that way before I get set flying with my thumbs.
There seems to be an ongoing debate about the method of touching the sticks, and the method of supporting the transmitter. I know many people who don't use a neck strap, and control with thumbs. They seem to be happy with their results.

Another viewpoint holds that a transmitter tray and pinching the sticks renders more precise control, and that seems reasonable. Some Pattern flyers / precision aerobatics flyers will probably chime in on that front.

Myself, I use a strap, and pinch the sticks. Works for me.

Good luck,
Dave Olson
