I just use thumbs... that seems to be the most comfortable way to hold the TX and operate the controls for me. To use the pinch method, I'd really have to use a neck strap. I hand launch most of my planes, so I have to be able to pick up my plane (while it's running) and get it situated in my right hand for launch, and then pick up the transmitter with my left hand... so there's really no good way for me to use a neck strap.
