Default metal-metal-----verrrrry bad

i ran the risk of losing a brand new 4*60 w/ a brand new os91 by ignoring the advice of my fellow fliers.
i changed the clevis at the field because the ball-type connector came off the throttle arm in the air.
i had a metal one in my tool kit and IN SPITE of the advice i got from my mates i replaced it w/ a metal clevis.
i took off and early into the flight i experienced glitches at 1/2 throttle.
luckily, we landed right away.
because i had already range checked before i lost the throttle assembly i neglected to range check again when i repaced it.
we decided to range check after the airborne glitches and at about 3,000 rpm the controls started fluttering, etc.
if i went over 3,000 rpm the glitches went away.
i then started asking the other fliers if their tx's were on.
finally, one of the jet jockies saw what was going on and yelled, "you've got metal to metal somewhere."
sure enough, it was the metal clevis.
the other lesson learned here:
if you modify ANYTHING at the field don't assume that all is well.
range check.
