that's only part of the story.
In my note I said, "In basic terms, if the weight of the water displaced by the volume of an object is more than the weight of the object, it will float; otherwise it will sink. "

I think we're saying exactly the same thing. I was just trying to avoid density calculations and keep it in terms that were easy to follow.
